If you are coming to Cameroon it is possible to withdraw money from ATMs in the larger cities (Douala, Yaounde, Bamenda, etc) using a VISA card (sorry Mastercard won't work). Make sure you call your bank beforehand to let them know you wish to use your card in Cameroon (Many banks block transfers to Cameroon, since it could be a fraudulent transfer).

Otherwise, it is easy to exchange EUR and USD bank notes to CFA notes at most cities. To get a good exchange rate, bring high denomination bills (i.e. EUR50 bills or higher). The default exchange rate from exchanges from EUR100 and above is CFA650. Travelers Cheques are hard to exchange so it is not recommended to bring these.

It is also possible to transfer money electronically from your foreign bank account to a Western Union branch nearby. Keep in mind that Western Union can charge fairly high rates (around 5%) on the total amount of the transaction.

Depending on your travel plans and standards it should be fairly easy to come by on a daily budget of EUR30 including travel, accommodation and food.
